SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer, is
a protocol used commonly to transmit and receive
information to and from your website in a secure
fashion. All data is encrypted so that
interception by a 3rd party is extremely
unlikely. Most consumers look for websites to
utilize SSL when requesting sensitive
information, such as personal information and
credit card information.
Normally, ComCity handles all
the facets of SSL generation to ease the burden
of our customers from having to get involved in
the process. The tasks on the server
represent a majority of the work that needs to
be performed for an SSL. We do the final
interfacing with the SSL CA (Certificating
Authority) on behalf of the customer.

If you wish to go and purchase
the SSL certificate yourself, you may also do
that. However, you will need to purchase
the SSL administrative tasks including CSR
(Certificate Signing Request) generation, SSL
retrieval, .cert installation and verification.
